Rhonda is an advocate for small business, and would not have the unique perspective she does had it not been for her own luxury candle business, Soleil Candle Collections. 

After making hand-poured candles for over 20 years, Rhonda decided to take a leap and officially launch her candle business. Her affinity for premium quality, non-toxic fragrance candles and luxury décor ignited a business model infused with sustainability, repeat customers and an expanded business line to include candle making experience parties, Scents & Champagne. 

Without a brick and mortar, Rhonda searched for ways to grow her customer base beyond friends and family. With a handle on her E-Commerce site, using acquired skills from event planning and her career in project management, Rhonda set out to plan her first in-person pop-up event at Eastland Mall. Her event grew from one pop-up every couple of months with 30 vendors to a monthly themed “Black Wall Street First Saturday Weekends” with over 50 vendors. 

“Selfishly, I wanted to bring my products forward in the marketplace; I had no idea, my vision of expansion would grow into another business, providing opportunities to other small businesses; God had other plans for me.” 

While operating within both spaces of hosting pop-up events and participating as a vendor for Soleil Candle Collections, Rhonda quickly recognized not many opportunities existed for minority vendors to present their products in premium foot traffic areas. 

There was an immediate need to build a platform for vendors to gain brand awareness, promote their products, and sell; one that did so as cost-effectively as it could while maintaining the distinction of high quality.

Black Wall Street Pop-Up LLC was built in just a few short weeks and has continued to expand into 614Pop-Up with the ever-changing landscape of small business retail.
